British Darts Organization- BDO

The BDO is a leading darts organization known all over the world. It was founded by Olly Croft on January 7, 1973. This organization is responsible for organizing, promoting, administering and staging darts events worldwide for men, women and children. The BDO consists of sixty four member counties in Britain.

A major responsibility of the BDO is to set the rules which are followed while playing the game of darts. The BDO decides the size and height of the dart board as well as the size of the throwing oche.

The organization has a board of directors that look after the working of the BDO. The board of directors meets at the annual general meeting of the organization to review the working of the organization. The BDO receives funds from member counties and the sponsors of various darts events.

The British Inter County Darts Championship is the most important event for the BDO. This championship has forty three English counties, sixteen Scottish counties and seven Welsh counties which play throughout the season at home and away from home. Each county hosts its own super league from which players are selected for each county team. This results in thousands of player in the BDO who then play various tournaments.
